John 13:7 (NKJV) Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.”
God is a mysterious God. His ways are not tied to man’s logic. When things make little sense, God can usually be found.
What is so profound is that man is a logical creature, attempting to find the reason behind most everything. Science, math, statistics - all apply concepts of logic to the past and the predictions for the future. God created man with a brain prewired for such pursuits. Yet, when it come to God’s ways, God expects us to push aside the logic and proceed on faith - a concept devoid of all logic.
When we try to apply logic to God’s ways, we fail. The only concept we are familiar with that applies to God is embodied in the word “trust.”
If we trust that God is present and that He is in control of every aspect of our life, then we can push logic aside and have the faith that He desires.
Therefore, the logic that seems to apply that if I do this, then God will do that is false. God’s ways are not so simple. We have to trust that He does the things he does with a sense of purpose that works best for us. That is the only thing we can know. The specifics are usually not revealed to us until later. Much later some times. We can look back and then have some understanding of why things worked the way they did. But for today, confusion over the ways of God abound. Tomorrow isn’t our concern. Our focus is on today.
Matthew 6:34
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
