Tickling Humor

So it is with your prayers. Ask and you’ll receive. Seek and you’ll discover. Knock on heaven’s door, and it will one day open for you. Every persistent person will receive what he asks for. Every persistent seeker will discover what he needs. And everyone who knocks persistently will one day find an open door.

Let me ask you this: Do you know of any father who would give his son a snake on a plate when he asked for a serving of fish? Of course not!

‭‭Luke‬ ‭11‬:‭9‬-‭11‬ ‭TPT‬‬

The Bible makes some promises that stretch any concept of our common sense. We see promise after promise that we receive what we ask for. Could that possibly be the case?

This verse repeats the promise but it adds an interesting twist - persistence.

Jesus explains that knocking on God’s door consistently, like you might do trying to wake up your buddy in the middle of the night, works. His explanation tickles with humor.

If we remain persistent, we will get the “fish” we asked for - we won’t get a “snake”.

Due to our persistent knocking, it is as if God walks downstairs in his bathrobe, wiping sleep from his eyes and hands our “fish” through the crack of a chained front door.

We got the health we prayed for, or the change in circumstance, or the abundant marriage that seemed beyond our grasp. Persistent knocking day after day, year after year, pays off. Know that it will. It is the reason the word “faith” is such a strong word found on the majority of pages throughout God’s words he provides for our living pleasure.
