Lawsuits - The Simple Truth

The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple. Ps 119:130

These words give reason every day to seek a little light - gain a little understanding in a world that has lost its way. These words give simple explanation to life. It’s really not complicated.

I recently got roped into a crazy lawsuit as a defendant. These days anyone can get sued for anything!

This week has involved several conversations with lawyers while I find myself with a very tight neck. Imagine that! Lawyers weigh me down with legal process and choosing the exact right words where adjectives are my enemy. No use of the word “very” for example. I can’t say “it was very complicated”. I can only say “it is complicated.” The word “very” opens the door to further question as to why I think it was “very” complicated. A slight issue in my mind and my neck tightened up more.

God’s words are not so difficult. When we read these words we are not burdened by the complex issues of this world. In fact, the world melts away and we are cast away into a single way of seeing our surroundings. Love and gentleness consume our nature and lawsuits and court processes find their rightful place - in the world that thrives on evil. We can reject that playing field and adopt God’s universe where we are only concerned about how we treat the other litigants. That is God’s way. Kindness can flow where sharp instruments being tossed in the direction of the plaintiff seem like the obvious choice.

Whatever the circumstances the world throws at you today, seek the word of God by opening the Bible. Read whatever the book opens to and stay there for a bit. You will find this thought process I speak of. And a smile will emerge while the war rages in front of you.
