if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he will also deny us;
2 Timothy 2:12
If we endure things go well. If we fall off
the rails things don’t go so well.
Enduring takes some thought. It’s not an accidental event that happens and we just get through the day. Enduring describes a methodology that irritates common sense.
Enduring requires a belief that we are not in control and therefore we stop trying to control. That takes a faith that is superhuman. Our common sense and need for self preservation is such a strong motivator that we have to find a way to avoid what comes so naturally.
I once listened to a story about a liberal lesbian college professor that was writing a book about how Christians view gays. In her research she went to the source and started reading the Bible to see what guidance it provided. What she learned was that you can’t read the word of God without activating the Holy Spirit and once you do that, your world changes. Her world changed significantly from every perspective. She became a Christ follower.
The Bible is not just another book. It’s the one thing on this earth that connects you directly to the heart of God. It is the provider of super human strength necessary to endure. Read it and endurance becomes a very peaceful chapter. Much like resting beside still waters.
Denying God is the other choice. Not advised!
