A different sort of day

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
James 1:22
Hearing the word is the Sunday church goer or the Christian radio listener. Lazy Christianity can be the result. It feels good to go to church and hang out with others that do the same. It can work into a comfortable life. This verse speaks to this place where faith ends at the front door of the church.
Putting God’s words into action takes a different life. Waking up on the morning takes on a new energy when the focus for the day is set by the Holy Spirit. This is an intentional life. A life directed from Heaven on a Tuesday - where you don’t bounce through the church doors to be a good listener that day.
It’s another day where the world is waiting to shred your mind and your body. Where the news reports one catastrophe after another and maybe you are destined to be part of one of those many catastrophes that very day. Where is the hope in such a day?
On this day the Spiritual man looks to Heaven early and opens the word and finds the promise of peace. The sunrise speaks loudly as the Lord roars like a lion to the ears that are tuned for such. A smile and a deep joy wells up as fires rage in the world beyond. A kindness and gentleness role off the tongue as others are encouraged. Words are sprinkled with a sense of faith, a power that is not human credited ever so slightly. Love is gifted by a soft touch. Self control does not allow a tough response to hurtful actions. Patience for a wayward soul awaits the turn around that may be years away. And prayer leaks throughout the day as conversation with the Holy One happens continuously, always finding direction and comfort where others need it.
Be that man.
