Philippians 3:3 and 7
rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh
But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ.
2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
As a man, the world pushes us to have confidence and to charge forward as a strong leader. That all sounds good until it doesn’t.
God tells me to have confidence in Him and His word and to employ the power He gives us.
The difference in the world’s way and God’s way is significant. God’s way involves a humble spirit and love. It oozes peace and mercy toward the our mistakes and those around us.
The world encourages pride and confidence in our abilities, our intelligence, our skill and maybe even our looks. God warns us that the confidence that wells up inside of us is a loss for Christ.
A loss for Christ sounds like a really bad idea - the exact opposite of the reason we are on this planet.
Today, as you see yourself as a leader of others, a confident man charging forward, remember the source of the power you are charged with. Go with a humble spirit and lead with forgiveness in your heart and mercy toward the mistakes you will encounter today. Be kind and gentle. Self control is your mantra. Those traits ingrained in you will make you a great leader.
Anything less will be a loss for Christ.
